ปกติแล้วการออมเงินจะได้รับผลตอบแทนในรูปของ “ดอกเบี้ย” หรือ ลงทุนในหุ้นจะได้รับผลตอบแทนในรูป “เงินปันผล” ซึ่งต้องเสียภาษีหัก ณ ที่จ่ายในอัตรา 15% และ 10% ของรายได้ที่ได้รับ ตามลำดับ ดังนั้น ภาษี ถือเป็นต้นทุนทางการเงินอย่างหนึ่งที่ทำให้ลดผลตอบแทนสุทธิจากการลงทุนลง อย่างไรก็ดี เพื่อเป็นการส่งเสริมการออมให้เพิ่มมากขึ้น มาตรการทางภาษีของภาครัฐ จึงได้กำหนดให้นักลงทุนได้รับสิทธิประโยชน์ทางภาษี ในรูปของการยกเว้นภาษีเงินได้ ดังนั้น วิธีวางแผนภาษีอีกรูปแบบ คือ การออมเงินหรือลงทุนให้เข้าเงื่อนไขการยกเว้นภาษีเงินได้ ซึ่งจะทำให้ผู้มีเงินได้ได้รับผลตอบแทนเพิ่มขึ้น หากคุณอยากจะออมเงิน แนะนำให้เริ่มจากเงินฝากหรือการลงทุนที่ได้รับยกเว้นภาษีก่อน หลายๆ คนมักมองข้ามสิทธิประโยชน์ดังกล่าว ในขณะที่ภาครัฐส่งเสริมการออมและการลงทุน โดยกรมสรรพากรได้มีประกาศเกี่ยวกับการยกเว้นเงินได้ไว้ ดังนี้



1. ดอกเบี้ยจากเงินฝากออมทรัพย์ จะได้รับยกเว้นในส่วน 20,000 บาทแรกตลอดปีภาษี หากเกิน 20,000 บาท จะต้องนำมารวมเพื่อคำนวณภาษีเงินได้ทั้งจำนวนด้วย ยกตัวอย่างเช่น อัตราดอกเบี้ยออมทรัพย์อยู่ที่ 0.87% ต่อปี ผู้มีเงินได้ไม่ควรฝากเงินไว้เกิน 2,298,850 บาท หากเงินฝากเกินจำนวนดังกล่าว จะทำให้ต้องถูกหักภาษี ณ ที่จ่าย (ในอัตรา 15% ของดอกเบี้ยรับ)

2. ดอกเบี้ยจากสลากออมสิน, ดอกเบี้ยเงินฝากออมสินของรัฐบาลประเภทฝากเผื่อเรียก, ดอกเบี้ยจากสหกรณ์ประเภทออมทรัพย์

3. ดอกเบี้ยเงินฝากประจำระยะเวลาการฝากตั้งแต่ 1 ปีขึ้นไป โดยผู้ฝากจะต้องมีอายุตั้งแต่55 ปีบริบูรณ์ขึ้นไป แต่เมื่อรวมกับดอกเบี้ยเงินฝากประจำทุกประเภทแล้วต้องมีจำนวนทั้งสิ้นไม่เกิน30,000 บาทตลอดปีภาษีนั้น กล่าวคือ เป็นเงินฝากเพื่อบรรเทาภาษีให้กับผู้สูงอายุ

4. ดอกเบี้ยเงินฝากประจำรายเดือน ตั้งแต่ 24 เดือนขึ้นไปนับตั้งแต่วันที่เริ่มฝากเงินเป็นรายเดือน โดยมียอดเงินฝากแต่ละคราวเท่ากัน แต่ไม่เกิน 25,000 บาทต่อเดือน และรวมทั้งหมดแล้วต้องไม่เกิน 600,000 บาท กล่าวคือ เป็นการส่งเสริมการออมรายเดือน

5. เงินได้จากการขายหน่วยลงทุนของกองทุนรวม (ไม่รวมถึงกองทุนรวมเพื่อลดหย่อนภาษี) จะได้รับยกเว้นภาษี กล่าวคือ ในฐานะบุคคลธรรมดา การลงทุนในกองทุนรวมจะได้รับยกเว้นภาษี เฉพาะส่วนต่างของราคาขายและราคาซื้อ (กำไรจากส่วนต่าง)

6. ในกรณีที่ผู้มีเงินได้มีอายุตั้งแต่ 65 ปีขึ้นไป สามารถได้รับยกเว้นเงินได้เพิ่มเติมได้อีก190,000 บาทตลอดปีภาษี กล่าวคือ เป็นการบรรเทาภาระภาษีให้กับผู้สูงอายุอีกรูปแบบหนึ่ง

ดังนั้น ผู้มีเงินได้สามารถวางแผนภาษีจากการออมเงินในรูปแบบดังกล่าวได้ นอกจากจะเป็นการเพิ่มผลตอบแทนจากการออมแล้ว ยังส่งเสริมให้มีวินัยในการออมอีกด้วย
