สิ่งที่ยอดเยี่ยมกว่าปุ่ม Start ที่ถูกเพิ่มใหม่ใน Windows 8.1
วันนี้ ท่านที่ใช้ Windows 8 อยู่สามารถอัพเกรดเป็น Windows 8.1 ได้แล้วนะครับ โดยไม่มีค่าใช้จ่ายใดๆ วิธีคือให้เข้าไปที่ Windows Store ครับ คลิกเข้าไปน่าจะเห็นเลย (ถ้าไม่เห็นลองใช้การค้นหาครับ)

สิ่งที่ผู้ใช้ Windows 8 อยากให้ไมโครซอฟต์นำกลับมา นั่นก็คือ ปุ่ม Start ตอนนี้ก็ได้กลับมาแล้วครับ แม้จะเป็นการคลิกเพื่อเข้าสู่ Start Screen (ที่เป็นหน้าจอแบบเมโทร หรือตามรูปด้านบน) ก็ตาม แต่ก็ถือว่าเป็นสิ่งที่ดี อย่างไรก็ตาม ผมเองจะเชื่อว่าคนที่ใช้ปุ่ม Start จากผู้พัฒนาอื่น (Third Party) มาติดตั้งเสริมเพิ่มเติมก็น่าจะยังคงใช้ต่อไป แต่โดยรวมก็ถือว่าดีมากครับ โดยเฉพาะผู้ใช้เมาส์จะสะดวกมากขึ้นเมื่อต้องการเข้าสู่หน้าจอเมโทรจาก Desktop
แต่สิ่งที่ยอดเยี่ยมกว่านั้น มีประโยชน์มากกว่าปุ่ม Start หลายเท่า (เพราะปุ่ม Start สามารถหาโปรแกรมอื่นมาติดตั้งเสริมได้) และน่าจะเป็นสิ่งที่ทำให้ Surface Pro ของไมโครซอฟต์ประสบความสำเร็จมากขึ้นนับจากนี้ นั่นคือ การปรับขนาดตัวอักษรหรือหน้าจอของ Desktop ให้แสดงผลได้ใหญ่ขึ้นโดยไม่ต้องลดความละเอียดของหน้าจอครับ
สำหรับผมแล้ว ครั้งแรกที่ได้ลองสัมผัส Surface Pro ก็ต้องบอกลาเลยครับ เพราะจุดประสงค์หลักของผมคือนำมาใช้ในส่วนของ Desktop แต่ด้วยเพราะจอขนาดเล็กที่มีความละเอียดสูง คือ 1920x1080 บนจอขนาด 10.6 นิ้ว (เมื่อลองเทียบกับจอขนาดใหญ่ที่สบายตาที่สุดคือ 15.6" ที่ความละเอียด 1366x768) ทำให้ทุกอย่างในส่วนของ Desktop ทั้ง Icon, Menu, แถบบาร์ รวมถึงโปรแกรมต่างๆ จะเล็กมากๆ บางทีเล็กจนในบางโปรแกรมไม่สามารถใช้นิ้วสัมผัสปุ่มได้ ซึ่งสิ่งนี้น่าจะเป็นปัญหากับผู้ใช้ Surface Pro ทั่วโลกครับ
และใน Windows 8.1 ก็ได้แก้ปัญหานี้ได้อย่างดีครับ เท่าที่ผมทดสอบกับ EASY-ACC เมื่อปรับขนาดฟอนต์ให้ใหญ่ขึ้น สามารถแสดงผลได้อย่างสมบูรณ์สวยงามครับ อย่างไรก็ตาม ผมยังไม่ได้ทดสอบกับ Surface Pro 2 ตัวใหม่ของจริงครับ ซึ่งเมื่อมีโอกาสจะมาบอกกันอีกครั้งนะครับ

หมายเหตุ:- บางท่านอาจตั้งข้อสังเกตว่า การปรับขนาดตัวอักษรลักษณะนี้มีมาแล้วตั้งแต่ Windows รุ่นก่อนหน้านี้ แต่สิ่งที่แตกต่างก็คือ ใน Windows รุ่นก่อนๆ เมื่อมีการปรับขนาดตัวอักษร ส่วนที่จะใหญ่ขึ้นก็คือไอคอน ทาสก์บาร์ เมนูของ Windows เอง รวมถึงบาง Application ของไมโครซอฟต์ และ Internet Explorer เป็นต้น แต่ถ้าเป็นโปรแกรมจากผู้พัฒนาอื่นๆ เช่น Adobe, Corel หรือ EASY-ACC จะแสดงผลปกติครับ ไม่มีการปรับขนาดตาม (ยกเว้นว่าจะออกแบบมาโดยเฉพาะ) แต่ใน Windows 8.1 โปรแกรมทั้งหมดจะถูกปรับขนาดตามสัดส่วนไปด้วยครับ
